To Infinity and Beyond
Our students today completed their interstellar spaceship models. We addressed the act of decelerating and landing on a foreign world. So naturally, we had to add parachutes to the designs. Each student approached this differently; one installed an engine eject system using magnets since they were the heaviest part of his model, and the other designated the nose-cone a pod that would detach in space with the parachute to land.
Once complete, we “launched” the ships over the back steps and to everyone’s joy both chutes opened and each ship landed successfully from their long hypothetical space missions. Hurrah!
